HIKING: Cub Lake

← CO MAIN WEATHER STATION LOCH VALE RMNP CO Triple Blaze →

Description

This trail is 2.3 miles one way to Cub Lake. With an elevation gain of only 540 ft it's a great introductory hike to the park. You'll first cross a bridge over a river, then meander along on a dirt path with lots of pines and aspens on either side. There are beautiful streams and ponds along the way and cascading cliffs overhead. Once you get to Cub Lake you can then either turn around and go back or continue on to Fern Lake.

Directions

Enter Rocky Mountain National Park from the main entrance at Estes Park. Go past the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center and turn left onto Bear Lake Road. Turn into the Moraine Park Campground. Then take Fern Lake Road to the left. This road takes you to the Cub Lake Trailhead, below the campground.
